Best TOEFL Test Prep Courses and Tutoring in Auckland
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is an assessment of English-language abilities in academic contexts, and it is required of most undergraduate and graduate applicants who are not native English speakers. The TOEFL consists of four sections that assess writing, reading, speaking, and understanding English. Manhattan Review is an educational services firm that offers on-site and online TOEFL prep courses as well as private TOEFL tutoring for Auckland-area applicants to universities in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and many other countries. Manhattan Review has been teaching students around the world how to meet their TOEFL requirements since 1999, and we have taught students from numerous cultural backgrounds and at every stage of English-language development. Our highly qualified TOEFL tutors and instructors utilize the most advanced course materials and innovative teaching methods to produce outstanding results for our students. TOEFL scores are given from 0 to 120 in one-point increments (0 to 30 in each section). Scores between 60 and 93 have been classified as "competent," 94 to 109 is considered "good," and upper-end scores of 110 to 117 and 118 to 120 are characterized as "very good" and "expert" respectively. TOEFL requirements at universities in the English-speaking world vary considerably, but most schools are covered by the "competent" to "good" range. Graduate students at UCLA, for example, must produce scores of 25 writing, 24 speaking, 21 reading, and 17 listening, for an overall composite score of 87. International applicants to the George Washington University Law School must score a minimum of 100. The majority of graduate programs at the University of Chicago mandate a total score of 104 and at least 26 on each subscore. Students taking the TOEFL should also note that score requirements are often higher for teaching assistantships or other forms of merit-based financial aid than they are for admission alone.
